Your stakeholders crave clear and insightful sustainability communications that shares purpose, strategy, data and meets regulatory expectations. The fields of ESG reporting, climate risk reporting, clean technology innovation and sustainable finance are evolving fast, and it can be challenges for organizations to keep up. I support a wide range of clients — corporations, investment firms, and suppliers — to prepare their annual sustainability reports. I also partner with consultancies to support their client projects as a lead copywriter. My pragmatic approach and diverse experience merges sustainability expertise with my background in strategic communications.

Sustainability Expertise

I provide ESG and climate risk reporting services to support global clients in communicating the diverse components of their sustainability journey:

  • sustainability and integrated business strategy

  • double materiality assessment

  • climate risk assessment

  • climate transition plan

  • targets, KPIs, metrics and performance

  • environmental and social impacts, risks and opportunities

  • due diligence and stakeholder engagement

  • governance structure, board composition, remuneration and policies

  • internal audits and/or third-party assurance

  • case studies and storytelling

My work supports the strategic analysis and development of annual reports aligned with mandatory as well as voluntary standards and frameworks. I help sustainability teams reduce their ESG reporting challenges by these services:

  • Strategic gap assessments, benchmarking, and roadmapping for reporting projects

  • Stakeholder and SME interviews

  • Narrative report content copywriting to align with mandatory and voluntary frameworks and standards including ESRS (CSRD) and SB 261 and 253

  • Preparation of standards-aligned content indices for GRI, IFRS S1 and S2, TCFD, SASB and other voluntary standards

What do my clients say? I've received overwhelming positive feedback from senior executives in their review of my work. Many of my clients have asked me to return for multiple year arrangements. I welcome long-term client relationships that develop and mature over time.

How I stay ahead of the curve: I consistently pursue professional development to support my reporting capabilities and remain ahead of the curve related to the latest regulatory developments. My professional certifications include:

  • GRI Sustainability Professional Certification

    • A professional sustainability certification dedicated to sustainability from an impact materiality lens, updated annually with 4 continuing education units

  • Global Association of Risk Professional's Sustainability and Climate Risk Certification

    • 100+ hour in-depth climate risk certification designed for investing and bank professionals, updated every two years with 20 continuing education units

  • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) Certification

    • 100+ hour in-depth certification awarded in two parts (FSA I and II) dedicated to sustainability from a financial materiality lens

I also have in-depth knowledge of the regulatory updates in the EU, UK and the US for ESG and climate risk disclosures. I’ve also developed the report content that included voluntary disclosures for CSRD, GRI, IFRS/ISSB, TCFD, SASB, GRESB, UNGC and the SDGs.

Approach to Copywriting for Reports

A woman leaning on a rail in front of a pond in Berlin

Strategic copywriting is the backbone of my approach to reporting communications. I started my journey in the field of sustainability in 2019 by specializing in thought leadership content for the B2B sustainability niche. Through my research on a wide-range of sustainability themes and trends, I gained a broad view of ways the sustainability industry is shaped by science, technology, international ambition and impact-focused civil society leaders.

My approach to crafting reporting copy still relies heavily on deep research into my clients’ brands, industry expertise, and sustainability approaches. I also incorporate journalistic strategies within my stakeholder interviews, ensuring timeliness, relevance and knowledge of the target audience to support my creation of highly relevant and engaging reporting copy.

In addition to emphasizing engagement, I support my clients with compliance. I incorporate my background as a legal editor and research for an international arbitration law firm to support my sensibility around reporting risks. I've spent hours interpreting and comparing sustainability reporting laws and standards to ensure I always have an expert understanding of investor interests and the regulatory agenda. In particular, my research into EU, UK and US approaches to greenwashing standards, enforcement and legal action help me flag any potential communication risks.

A brief note on AI: I do not currently incorporate AI into my writing processes other than interview transcription.
